Working with Voice in the Room has made a positive difference to a wide range of organisations and individuals. This is what just a few had to say about their experience:
“After seeing Jo for only a short session a couple of days before an important pitch…..I couldn’t believe the difference.
I can’t recommend Jo highly enough - she’s absolutely brilliant!”
Pete had individual coaching for an Investor Pitch Event
“The training Jo delivered was engaging, interesting and relevant. Feedback from participants was universally and overwhelming positive. She was a pleasure to work with in preparing the session. We won’t hesitate to work with her again.”
Dr Victoria Thomas, Consultant Paediatrician, arranged bespoke training for Paediatric Consultants and trainees at Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle.
From the moment I met Jo, she put my mind at ease about the public speaking engagement I had looming. After a consultation, we had several sessions where she built my confidence, supported me to be bold and brave and understand how good communication works. As a result I delivered my lecture with confidence and had fantastic feedback, I have several new speaking engagements now booked and can’t wait to use my newly acquired skills again! She is a true professional and a lovely person to spend time with! I could not recommend Jo highly enough – I have referred her to several of my friends and colleagues as she is just brilliant! Thanks Jo!
Laura had coaching for an industry conference talk, April- May 2017.
“I would highly recommend Jo. I would normally absolutely dread presenting or public speaking, so I booked onto one of Jo’s courses. I really enjoyed the course, got loads out of it, and felt a boost in my confidence. A week or so I later I realised that I’m now actually looking forward to my next opportunity to speak, which is a massive turn round from where I was before”

Yesterday I took part in a public speaking course. Initial thought was “Aaaaaaargh!! Please don’t make me get up and speak!” It is however a skill I am keen to develop so persevered & I am so glad I did. The course was hosted by Jo Darby & I had to post this as she delivered a brilliant & friendly session which reminded us all that everyone has their own accent, voice, style & approach. I know I can speak for everyone in the group when I say Jo turned our very nervous energy into smiles & laughter. She also helped us to embrace the fact public speaking is just an opportunity to share our skills and knowledge with people who have made an effort to attend & listen. Thank you Jo!!!
Jennifer participated in the in-house corporate training session at EMG solicitors, May 2017.

“The training you did for us has made such a difference to how our team speak to our clients. They are noticeably more confident and relaxed going out to present and deliver now and it’s made a positive difference to sustaining client engagement. Wish we had done this sooner.”
Ben and Rich, Directors of Cycling Generation Ltd, wanted bespoke training for their team which focused on connecting with their clients in a way that reflected their business values and goals.
“I would really recommend this course to anyone who wants to be able to talk about their business”

” The training was immersive, very practical and useful for a variety of situations”…….. ” Very helpful, particularly on how to speak to any audience and retain their interest”
Bespoke training was provided to a group of Post Graduates at Northumbria University School of Law. It focused on how to speak more confidently in any situation, including presentations, academic conferences and job interviews.
To be honest, I was a bit dubious about how much a presentation coach could possibly help me. I’m lucky enough to have always been reasonably confident with speaking to people, however I have a serious problem - my memory. I have a bit of a tendency to forget what I was planning to talk about, and so I end up talking around the subject until I remember what I was supposed to be saying. This is acceptable in a lot of settings, but when there’s any kind of time limit, it becomes an issue.
This is always something I’ve struggled with, and I wasn’t really sure how a presentation coach would suddenly be able to give me the short term memory that I’d never had, however after seeing Jo for only a short session a couple of days before an important pitch, I was completely different. Mentors and advisors who had previously sat through me embarrassingly stumbling through a badly prepared pitch couldn’t believe the difference.
Jo talked me through several simple but effective methods of remembering the content for my pitch, and a process to test them out to see which one(s) worked best for me. I spent an hour or two that evening going through the processes, and by the time I went to bed, it was committed to memory. What’s more, Jo talked me through ways of dealing with the dreaded mind-blank, meaning I went into my pitch feeling totally prepared.
I can’t recommend Jo highly enough - she’s absolutely brilliant!
